This used to be my go to place when's visited Austin, I only went because another pit master told me to give him a try again. I was totally disappointed. The brisket was not edible at all. It was so dry I could not even chew it. The ribs were not much better. It' s too bad I was told he was an artist and I guess he doesn't do Monday's

This used to be my favorite BBQ in TX. Went today and it was not what it used to be... I will not give up on it though!

Pork ribs were fabulous. Brisket was better than average. Sauce was different - pretty good. Squash was yummy.

Stopped here the day of the West Virginia TX game. John was messin with the WV kids that stopped by before the game, thought that was pretty cool of him as he repped his burnt orange! Hookem!

Tried Johns today and was disappointed. Brisket had little crust and not much flavor. The sauce he served had a flavor that I couldn't pin down but it did not fit. No line at all at 11:30....bad sign...I wish he would up his game. Might try again to see if my first visit was a fluke...

If there’s a dark prince of Texas barbecue, it’s probably John Mueller, the famously irascible, hugely talented, at times erratic master of meat who left his family’s legendary joint—Louie Mueller Barbecue, in Taylor—and set out on his own in 2001 with John Mueller’s B-B-Q, on Austin’s East Side. By 2003, that joint had acquired both a fanatical following and a spot on our top fifty list. The briskets were the best in town, and John…

You may remember last October when John Mueller was shut out of his well-regarded JMueller BBQ trailer on South First Street in Austin. He wasn’t happy about it, to say the least, but stayed quiet, plotting his return. That return will occur in just two weeks, and for smoked meat lovers everywhere, let’s hope it’s a triumphant one. Saturday, February 23rd will be the opening day of John Mueller Meat Co., and the trailer will be set…
